Here is an article I wrote with a colleague at BIRN about proposals to establish a regional truth commission for the Balkan states involved in the conflicts of the 90s. Most of the NGOs, academics, and government officials we spoke with for the article were pessimistic about the commission’s viability. The proposed commission would address events disputed by the governments of the region, and disputed within the government of Bosnia. It is politically unrealistic, the interviewees told us.
